2. What is the difference between 'The Tours' and 'With Susja'?
If you book a regular trip via the page 'The trips', you book the trip yourself for a date that suits you. You then go on horse holiday independently, without me coming along. Of course I help you with questions, preparation and tips, but you travel by yourself.
When travelling 'With Susja' I also go on horse holidays myself, so we travel together with a group. This is ideal if you find it exciting to travel alone, if you don't have anyone to go with, or if you just enjoy travelling with other horse lovers. For these trips, we usually create a group app in advance as well, so you can get to know the group a little bit and the fun can begin.
The trips I join are sometimes trips I've been to before, but sometimes also new destinations I'm still discovering on my own. So in that case, we go on an adventure together and discover the place for the first time.
3. Do I need travel insurance?
When you book a trip, the partner's conditions always apply. So they also decide whether travel insurance is compulsory; many partners do, but not all.
Regardless of whether it is compulsory or not, we strongly recommend travel insurance. Our partners work with reliable, well-trained horses and pay careful attention to which rider matches which horse. Still, horse riding remains a risky sport and something can always happen, and if that happens abroad, you want to be sure you get proper medical care. Travel insurance ensures that medical expenses are covered if something happens to you while on holiday.
You can arrange your travel insurance with your health insurance. It is important to check whether horse riding is covered. And also whether the country you are travelling to is included. In fact, many insurers differentiate between European countries and destinations outside Europe. Also remember that some insurers will not reimburse costs if you decide to ride without a cap.
4. What if I have to cancel?
When you book a trip, you pay directly with our partner and therefore their cancellation policy always applies. This means that they determine whether you get (part of) your travel sum back if you unexpectedly cannot go. Unfortunately, with many organisations you get nothing or only part of your refund, depending on how shortly before departure you have to cancel.
Because unexpected situations can happen, it is wise to take out cancellation insurance. This way, you are protected if you cannot travel due to illness, a family emergency or another unforeseen event. In such cases, cancellation insurance ensures that your travel sum is (partially) reimbursed, so you are not left with high costs.
5. Why is there a weight limit?
A weight limit is there for one simple but important reason: the health and welfare of the horses. Every horse has a maximum weight it can comfortably and safely carry, just as people can only lift a certain amount without straining their backs. If a horse carries too much weight structurally, it can develop back pain, tendon problems or even permanent injuries.
The limit varies from horse to horse and destination to destination, depending on their build, training and type of work they do. This is why our partners set clear limits, not to exclude anyone, but to ensure the horses stay healthy, strong and happy.
6. What riding level do I need?
It varies from trip to trip. On the page 'Riding levelsI will explain exactly what level you need and how you can estimate what level you have. If in doubt, you can always send me a message and I will help you choose.
7. Do I have to book my own flight?
Yes, you usually book your own flight, so you can choose from which airport and what times work best for you. Of course, I can help you find good flights.
8. How does booking work?
Once you have found a trip you like, choose a date and fill in the booking form on the website. After you have filled in the form, I will contact you as soon as possible to confirm whether there is still room on your chosen dates. Your booking is only final after you have received confirmation from me.
Is there room? Then you make a down payment directly to the organisation where your trip takes place. At that moment, your spot is officially reserved and you can book your flight and start enjoying yourself. You usually pay the remaining amount later or on location, depending on the organisation. You will always receive clear information about this.
